- 1 loaf (1 pound) day-old bread, cubedn1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbledn1 cup shredded cheddar cheesen1 cup shredded mozzarella cheesen12 large eggsn3 cups milkn1 teaspoon saltn1/2 teaspoon black peppern1/4 teaspoon garlic powdern1/4 teaspoon onion powdern1/4 teaspoon mustard powdernOptional: Chopped fresh chives or parsley, for garnish

- Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread the cubed bread evenly across the bottom of the dish.nSprinkle the cooked, crumbled sausage evenly over the bread. Then, sprinkle both the cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the sausage.nIn a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and mustard powder until well combined.nPour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, sausage, and cheese. Gently press down on the bread to make sure it’s fully soaked.nFor best results, cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. This allows the bread to fully absorb the custard.nPreheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the plastic wrap from the dish.nBake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown and the custard is set. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.nLet the casserole cool for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh chives or parsley, if desired.
