- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)

- Sprinkles, for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cups cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the frosting: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract, beating until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- Once the cake cups are completely cool, frost them with the prepared frosting and decorate with sprinkles.
