Description

Irresistibly juicy and flavorful, these Crack Burgers live up to their name! A blend of savory spices, caramelized onions, and melty cheese makes them utterly addictive.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Your favorite burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, bacon, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20-25 minutes, or until the onions are deeply caramelized and golden brown. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Use your thumb to make a small indentation in the center of each patty; this will prevent them from bulging during cooking.
  4. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired degree of doneness. For medium rare, cook to an internal temperature of 130 to 135°F.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cover the pan or grill to allow the cheese to melt.
  6. While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the hamburger buns.
  7. Spread your favorite burger toppings on the buns. Place a cheeseburger patty on the bottom bun, top with caramelized onions, and finish with the top bun. Serve immediately and enjoy!
