  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • **For the Filling:**
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped
  • **For the Glaze:**
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. 2. Add the melted butter, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. 3. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. 4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1 ½ hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. 6. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Fold in the chopped strawberries.
  7. 7. Once the dough has doubled, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle, about 12×18 inches.
