Scale
- **For the Dough:**
- 1 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- **For the Filling:**
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped
- **For the Glaze:**
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- 1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
- 2. Add the melted butter, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
- 3. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- 4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1 ½ hours, or until doubled in size.
- 6. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Fold in the chopped strawberries.
- 7. Once the dough has doubled, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle, about 12×18 inches.
- 8. Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the dough.
- 9. Carefully roll the dough up tightly into a log.
- 10. Slice the log into 1-inch thick rolls.
- 11. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- 12. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 13. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 14. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- 15. Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before drizzling with the glaze. Serve warm and enjoy!
