Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dough:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • For the Strawberry Filling:
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. 2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
  3. 3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. 4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. 6. Make the Strawberry Filling: While the dough is rising, prepare the strawberry filling.
  7. 7. In a medium saucepan, combine the diced strawberries, sugar, and cornstarch.
  8. 8. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the strawberries release their juices and the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  9. 9. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  10. 10. Assemble the Cinnamon Rolls: Once the dough has doubled, punch it down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.
  11. 11. Roll the dough into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
  12. 12. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
  13. 13. Sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the butter, then spread the strawberry filling evenly over the cinnamon.
  14. 14. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  15. 15. Slice the log into 12 equal rolls.
  16. 16. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  17. 17. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  18. 18. Bake the Cinnamon Rolls: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  19. 19. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  20. 20. Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting: While the cinnamon rolls are baking, prepare the frosting.
  21. 21. In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  22. 22. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until smooth.
  23. 23. Add the milk and vanilla extract and beat until light and fluffy.
  24. 24. Frost the Cinnamon Rolls: Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven and still warm, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top. Serve immediately.
