- ¼ cup milk

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a mini muffin tin.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Fill each mini muffin cup about two thirds full.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the mini cakes cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, until the frosting is smooth and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Divide the frosting into separate bowls and tint each bowl with your desired gel food coloring.
- Once the mini cakes are completely cool, frost them with your colored frosting. Add sprinkles, edible glitter, mini graduation caps, or edible markers to personalize each cake.
