  • For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: Food coloring (pink or red)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a heart shaped cake pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine milk, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. While the cake is cooling, prepare the frosting. Beat softened butter until light and fluffy.
  8. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with milk, until smooth and creamy. Add vanilla extract and food coloring, if using.
  9. Once the cake is completely cool, frost the top and sides with the prepared frosting.
