Description
A festive and delicious Christmas Margarita recipe with cranberry syrup. Perfect for holiday gatherings!
Ingredients
Scale
- For the Cranberry Syrup:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- For the Margarita:
- 4 ounces tequila (blanco or reposado)
- 2 ounces Cointreau (or other orange liqueur)
- 2 ounces fresh lime juice
- 4 ounces cranberry syrup (from above)
- Ice
- Optional: coarse salt or sugar for rimming
- Optional: lime wedges and cranberries for garnish
Instructions
- 1. Make the Cranberry Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, water, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the syrup has thickened slightly.
- 2. Strain the Syrup: Pour the cranberry mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool completely.
- 3. Prepare the Glasses: If desired, rim your margarita glasses with coarse salt or sugar. You can do this by running a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and then dipping it in the salt or sugar.
- 4. Combine the Ingredients: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and cranberry syrup.
- 5. Shake Well: Cover the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds, or until well chilled.
- 6. Strain and Serve: Strain the margarita into your prepared glasses filled with ice.
- 7. Garnish: Garnish with lime wedges and fresh cranberries for a festive touch.
- 8. Enjoy Responsibly: Sip and savor the flavors of your perfect christmas margarita!
