Creamy, comforting tomato and basil pasta, quick to prepare and perfect for date night!
Ingredients

- 1 pound pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- 1. Cook pasta according to package directions in salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain.
- 2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
- 3. Stir in tomato paste and cook for another minute. Add crushed tomatoes, bring to a simmer, and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4. Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream, chopped basil, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper.
- 5. Add cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat, adding pasta water if needed for desired consistency.
- 6. Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
